Description:
The Browning BDA-380 single or double action automatic pistol was first introduced in 1978 and features a gloss blue finish, a 3 & 13/16ths" inch barrel, fixed sights, smooth factory Walnut grips, and a double stack magazine with a 13-rd capacity plus 1 in the chamber for 14 rounds on-board.  The compact pistol weighs 23 ounces and was intended for personal defense and to be easily concealable, while at the same time still being comfortable and fun to shoot.  It was a successful design, reliable, accurate, and attractive with excellent ergonomics.  Browning kept the BDA-380 in production for 19 years until 1997 when it was discontinued.  In a testament to the excellent design and build quality of this model the BDA-380 remains a sought-after and collectible pistol to this day.  This example is serial number 425PZ14560 and was manufactured in 1981 in the 4th year of production.  It is all-original and in great shape overall.  While it is "used" and appears to have been carried some, it certainly appears to have been well-cared for and probably only actually fired a handful of times.  The glossy blue factory finish rates 94% with some small handling marks scattered on the slide, the majority of which are on the left side near the muzzle.  Despite these minor scuffs this pistol is very attractive and clean looking.  The allow frame is excellent shape, with the gloss black finish in excellent shape and no finish wear on the front or rear grip strap.  The bore in this Browning is perfect.  The bore is mirror bright with nice sharp rifling, and there is no visible pitting, erosion, or imperfections of any kind.  The original Walnut factory grips are in very good condition overall.  As you can see in the pictures they show some very minor handling/storage marks (dings/dents) but the clearcoat finish is still fully intact and the wood is free from any cracks, chips, or repairs.  The grips still have the original factory gold/black Browning medallions in place, and the grips are perfectly fit to the pistol and tight to the metal.  Everything on this pistol works 100% like the day it left the factory.  All of the controls work perfectly and the action is smooth but precise when worked by hand.  The pistol goes into battery perfectly, and the trigger is quite good for a compact pistol.  It comes with one factory original 13-round magazine that is in perfect working order.  If you have been looking for one of these early production Browning BDA-380 pistols for your collection this is a very nice all-original example that has been very lightly used.  As long as you take care of it you could carry it or enjoy it at the range and still have an excellent long-term investment piece.
