Description:

Offered is an exceptionally nice and very rare Sharps-Borchardt saddle ring carbine in 45-70 cal., with a "Sharps Rifle Company" letter signed by Sharps historian Richard J. Labowskie, M.D. This rifle is in overall antique fine condition with all original bluing turned grey, blemishing on the receiver and barrel and some very light pitting in spots plus some small dings on the right side of the receiver that can be seen in my pictures. The wood has all original finish with small dings on both the forearm and stock but no cracks or serious chips. The bore is very good and mostly shiny with some minor pitting, the rifling is strong, the gun is in excellent mechanical condition and all parts are original to the gun.
There were only 384 of these carbines produced and this particular gun was one of fifty shipped to the Louisiana National Guard in April of 1878 and were accepted by General J. W. Patten in New Orleans, Louisiana. Gen. Patten was the Adjutant General of the Louisiana State National Guard. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me by phone, text or email.
SALES TAX OF 4.45% MUST BE CHARGED ON ALL LOUISIANA SALES.
THREE DAY INSPECTION PERIOD IS OFFERED ON THIS ITEM WITH FULL REFUND IF NOT SATISFIED WITH YOUR PURCHASE. BUYER MUST PAY RETURN SHIPPING AND INSURANCE.
