The Winchester Model 1894 was the first lever rifle able to fire the high-pressure smokeless powder that came with the .30 WCF, also known as the .30-30 caliber. The Winchester M1894 comes from the era when cowboys still road high in their saddles throughout the West, armed with Colts and Winchesters, drifting with the cattle while real danger still existed from rogue Indians and highway robbers. This rifle, Sn152495 built in 1899, is a desirable pre-1900 1894 in REMARKABLE FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION with strong, 90% barrel blue, 98% magazine tube blue, 15% receiver blue with no flaking, and nice finish remaining on the wood. The screws are all in great condition and original, there are no cracks, splits, or repairs to the wood, and all the lettering and stamps are crisp and clear. Most early M1894 rifles have been used hard. Even if cared for they will show bluing loss on the barrel, receiver, lever, and loading gate. The wood gets dinged up and scratched from traversing thick woods and bouncing in pick-up trucks, so when you find a 119-year old Winchester Model 1894 in nice original condition it is something to take note of. This is an opportunity for you to own a factory original Winchester 1894 in .30-30 caliber that is the most popular deer hunting rifle ever produced, with over 7 million rifles having left the factory overall. The value of these awesome Winchester rifles is in the high-condition pre-1900’s rifles, and clearly the full octagon, full magazine Winchesters bring a premium over rifles built after 1900 and the more common round barrel. This rifle is in superb mechanical condition with an amazingly strong bore with sharp, strong rifling and no heavy pits, and unaltered in any way since leaving the factory. There are no extra holes where an after-market sight may have been mounted. The Winchester Model 1894 is perfect for deer hunting in the wooded areas throughout the country and anywhere a true rifle with a 26 barrel is warranted.
