Description:
Serial #220512K, 7.65mm (.32 ACP), 3 1/4" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a K-suffix, “(crown)/N" proofed pistol with matching numbered slide (scratch numbered “512" on the interior), and retains 98-99% of the original brilliant, pre-war commercial blue finish with traces of fading and silvering on the high edges, as well as further gray fading on the extractor and safety lever. The checkered, brown marbled grip has some mild wear and flattening of the points, as well as a short vertical crack at the rear where the grip meets the short frame beavertail. The pistol comes with two magazines: one is the typical flat-base magazine, while the other is equipped with the rare full grip extension floorplate. The grip extension is in excellent condition and has no chips or cracks. The pistol is housed in a typical German brown leather flap holster that has an owner's name and unit identification on the interior: “Ostfm. Reinemer 2/293 R I/7a", along with the pistol's serial number written twice in the same handwriting. “Ostfm." is the abbreviation for Oberstfeldmeister, which was a rank in the Reichsarbeitsdienst – RAD (German Labor Service) equivalent to a Hauptmann (Captain) in the German Army. Ostfm. Reinemer is identified in surviving German records as the commander of Abteilung 2/293 R I/7a “Friedrich Graf von Bogen" which participated in the construction of the West Wall fortifications under Arbeitsfuehrer Vaupel commanding Arbeitsgruppe 274 (R I) “Kraichgau". This is a splendid pre-war PPK in its own right, but also comes with an extremely rare accessory, and is identified to a specific field-level NSDAP officer. It is an excellent pistol, both condition-wise, and with regard to its history. FFL or C&R
