This shotgun was handcrafted by Benjamin Norman of Birmingham, England in about 1878. Mr. Norman is documented as previously working for the James Purdey firm, and this gun reflects the quality of an “English Best” gun. The barrels are 30 inches and have been perfectly sleeved in England, proofed to 850 bars (12,300 psi) and chambered for 2 ¾” nitro ammunition. They are equipped with 5 Briley Thin wall chokes; Skt (2), IC, M, IM. The gun has been impeccably refurbished and is in perfect condition. The hand engraved frame is covered with a light gray patina- no pitting or damage exists. Also featured is an engraved skeleton steel buttplate. The lock-up is a Jones Underlever, which is one of the strongest actions known. It was originally built as a matched pair, reflected by the engraved number 2 on the frame, barrel rib and forend iron.
