Manufactured for only 3 years between 2003 and 2006, the Winchester Model 70 Super Shadow featured a matte-blued finish with a black synthetic stock with oval-dot textured gripping surfaces on the forearm and pistol grip. It was available in a 22" or 24" inch barrel depending on the chambering and had short or super-short controlled push-feed action with a 3-round blind magazine well. This particular example has a 24" inch barrel and is chambered in the extremely accurate and powerful .270 Winchester Short Magnum cartridge. It was bought new by the previous owner and put in storage ever since. It is unfired since leaving the factory and is in minty like-new condition. The factory matte-blue finish rates 99%+ and shows no signs of wear or use. The bore is minty and bright, with factory-new sharp rifling and no visible imperfections. The unique and very ergonomic stock is also in like-new condition. It shows no signs of wear or use and features factory installed sling swivel studs and a factory installed recoil pad. The length of pull is a hair under 13.5" inches to the end of the recoil pad. All of the controls and action function 100% like the day this rifle left the factory. The action works smoothly and goes into battery perfectly with no slop. The trigger is quite good for a factory trigger, breaking cleanly with no grit. The short action receiver is factory drilled and tapped for optics and has never had any bases installed on it. The factory plug screws are still in place. Speaking from personal experiance, the .270 WSM chambering is a perfect big game cartridge. You get all of the expected magnum energy and velocity you could ask for in a short-action cartridge. It is capable of taking any big game in North America and is a very accurate round, with lots of factory loaded ammunition choices that are widely available. As mentioned previously, this rifle comes with the original box with the factory serial-numbered end label intact, the owner's manual, and all of the paperwork and advertising hang tags that the rifle shipped from the factory with. The box and some of the paperwork has some water damage and some rips in it as it was stored in a building with a roof leak, while the rifle was in a different building stored in a safe. If you have been looking for a new good looking and well-made rifle to take hunting this year, or just to add to your collection, this Winchester would be an excellent choice. You could proudly carry this low-production Winchester rifle into any hunting camp in the country and never be out-gunned or outclassed. Priced at $450, there is certainly no better rifle for the money!!
