This is one attractive all-original and honest Colt Woodsman Target Model. This 3rd Series Woodsman semi-automatic .22 caliber pistol was manufactured in 1974 and features a gloss blue factory finish, a 6" inch barrel, adjustable target-style sights, factory checkered target style Walnut grips with a thumb shelf, and a 10-round factory magazine. The 3rd Series guns can quickly be identified by the heel-located magazine release versus the 2nd series push-button magazine release. The 3rd Series pistols were made by Colt from 1955 to 1977 and were a great success. They quickly earned a reputation for being well-made, reliable, and very accurate. These pistols are considered by today's collector's as being one of the finest .22 caliber automatic pistol designs ever made. This particular pistol is in excellent condition overall and is 100% functional. As you can see from the pictures, the original factory blue finish still looks great overall and shows only some very minor finish wear on the sides of the barrel, the grip straps, and various high edges. The bore in the 6" barrel is minty and mirror bright. The rifling still looks sharp and there is no visible pitting, erosion, bulges, or imperfections. The original factory Walnut grips are in excellent condition and free from any major damage, cracks, chips, or repairs. The hand-cut checkering is still clean and crisp, and the factory original gloss clearcoat finish is fully intact on both sides. While this gun is used, it appears to have spent most of it's life in storage and been fired very little. The internals are equally as clean as the exterior, and they show no mechanical wear to speak of. The slide is nice and tight to the frame but works very smoothly by hand. All of the controls on this pistol are in perfect working order. The trigger is quite good on this Woodsman Target, it breaks with a light pull and no grit or slop. This Colt comes with one factory original 10-round magazine in excellent condition. If you have been looking for a classy vintage semi-automatic .22 pistol for your collection this 1974 Colt Woodsman Target model would be an excellent choice. Not only will it be a blast to shoot at the range or farm, but it should continue to be an excellent long-term investment as well.
