Description:
General Specs: L.C. Smith, Year 1931, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 1oz, Chokes LM/F, LOP 14 1/4", DAH 2 3/4", DAC 1 5/8"
Serial Number: FW134686

There were a LOT of Field Grade 20ga. Elsies made over the years.  Most are nice, but not special, guns.  L.C. Smith 20ga. guns are all built on the common Featherweight frame, but most often the guns can be a bit on the heavy side, often weighing close to 6 3/4lbs. even with 26" barrels.  Every-once-in-a-while I find one that is dynamic in hand, a true lightweight, usually guns with the lower rib from the 1930's or earlier.  This gun, snFW134686 made in 1931 is just such a gun.  Weighing 6lbs. 1oz. and balanced perfectly 1/4" ahead of the hinge pin, it is a rare find amongst L.C. Smith 20ga. guns, being superlight and having a ton of factory original condition.  This gun IS FACTORY ORIGINAL IN ALL WAYS and still has 90% factory case color and 99% original barrel blue, excellent screws, no cracks, and nice wood as well.  LOOK AT THE TRIGGER GUARD BLUE AT 99%!  Most guys buying guns of this nature are shooter/collectors that will use the gun for upland birds and clays.  I cannot think of a better suited, or more affordable gun to do that with, as most all your classic American side x sides in 20ga. have gone up quite a bit in price and are becoming hard to find, especially guns that feel like a fine English double in hand!  This gun has 28” barrels choked LM/F, mirror perfect bores, with the barrels tight on face and hinge pin like a new gun, with the top lever way right of center.  The breech face of the barrels still has the factory jeweling visible. These guns are going up in value as you enjoy their use, so you won't lose money should you ever decide to sell this nice little piece.  The price is affordable, the gun is attractive and 100% functional, and you can shoot RST spreader loads to make it shoot like she was IC/M for greater versatility on the clays course or in the field.  Great way to get into the small-bore vintage double gun game without breaking the bank.  Thanks for looking.
