Description:
SPF ---- Parker 8 Gauge DH grade 36” Barrels

Offered is a Parker 8 gauge shotgun made in 1902.  Per page 291 of THE PARKER STORY, this is one of only 10 Parker DH guns made in 8 gauge with 36” barrels.  After 116 years, how may survive in any condition?  Of those, this may be the only example remaining that could be restored to near new condition.

This 8 gauge was built on Parker’s #6 frame, where 12 gauge guns were built on #1, 1&1/2, and 2 frames (a very few Parker 12’s were build on the #3 frame).  Weighing 14 lbs 8 oz to absorb the recoil of up to 2 and half ounces of shot, this 36” Parker handles surprising well. That is presumed to be due to these being hand fitted guns.

I’ve shot this gun for sporting clays with other members of the Parker Gun Collectors Association (PGCA) and on at least one round, beat everyone else!  I also loaned her out to PGCA members to try their hand at breaking the 80+ plus yard clay pigeons during the AH Fox Collectors Association’s annual Bo Woop (Nash Buckingham) competition.  It was easy to break those long-range crossing targets with an ounce and a half of shot coming from bores of .846” squeezed through chokes of .052”.   That load felt like a one-ounce load in a light 12 gauge.

The case hardening and Damascus pattern were restored by my friend, the late Brad Bachelder.
Brad’s opinion was the wood was restored by Kirk Merrington.  I cannot verify that but those who knew Brad would trust has opinion.

There is a scratch in the finish on the left cheek of the stock.  Brad inspected the stock when he had it apart and confirmed it is not cracked, rather the finish cracked.

Price: $17,250

Cash is king but I will consider trades for Dangerous Game Double Rifles, or even very high quality magazine rifles larger than .375 H&H.  Sorry, I have a couple nice .375’s.

I will also consider partial trades of high quality/condition, collectable or custom-made firearms.

The buyer of this 8 gauge may also purchase my 8 gauge reloading equipment and components including:
  • MEC Press converted to 8 gauge
  • Swaging dies and compression lever to from hulls for old 8 gauges from the modern commercial 8 gauge Kiln Gun hulls
  • Several hundred 8 gauge hulls
  • Hundreds of 8 gauge wads
  • 8 gauge reloading manual
If you do not buy this gun, please do not inquire about the above reloading equipment.  It is NOT for sale separately.
