Description:
I have for sale one of my favorite upland guns, a Merkel 280EL in 28 gauge. These little guns to my mind are set up perfectly for Grouse, Quail, Woodcock, and even released Pheasants. In fact I hunt Grouse and Woodcock with the exact same gun and love carrying it. This gun has 28 inch barrels which provide the gun with a surprising smooth swing for a gun that only weighs in at 5 pounds 7 ounces. It comes with improved cylinder and modified chokes which seem to work wonders in the Grouse woods. A straight English stock with dimensions of 1 3/8 X 2 1/2 X 14 5/8 over a 1/2 inch solid red Galazan pad. The wood was not cut and a replacement plate is $25 from Merkel should you want a shorter length of pull. Stock is cast off for the right hand shooter. The gun features a splinter forend and double triggers. The gun has lovely game scene engraving on both sides and scroll work on the bottom of the receiver which was beautifully executed by Merkel Engraving Shop Master Gerhard Liebscher their top engraver. His Initials GL are on the left side of the receiver. This gun is still super tight in every way with super lock up. The scalloped box lock Anson & Deeley action is time proven to be a workhorse. The wood on this particular gun is as good to my eye as any I've seen on this model and has a very nice oil finish. Condition of the gun is excellent plus with only a couple of the smallest marks on the stock. I'll call the entire gun easily 98% condition. Price of the gun is $5700 plus $70 shipping to your FFL. As always there is a three day non-firing inspection period with the buyer paying shipping charges if returned.
