Description:
Rarely encountered pre and post Weimar Republic/Nazi Luger in excellent condition. Original finish, all matching except magazine, not import marked, no rust or pitting on metal, great bore, functions fine.
This gun started out as a commercial Luger, which can be seen by the "71" on the bottom of the side plate (which is how commercial Lugers were marked). Later military style numbers were added, including "71" on the face of the side plate. That was done at the time when this pistol went into service of the Weimar Republic, which was the name of the German state following the Treaty of Versailles after WWI. "1921" marking on the top of the receiver is not the year this Luger was produced, but rather the property mark of the Weimar Republic. Even later, it was put into the service of the Nazi, as can be seen by the "WaA4" marking on the left side of the toggle. There are unit markings on the back of the frame that were crossed out, so it's unclear if they were from a unit of the Weimar or the Nazis. 7.65 cal, which is rarely encountered, as most of these guns were 9mm.
