This 1949 manufactured Winchester Model 42 shotgun is in Outstanding Condition.
The original blueing is full coverage. It is deep and rich. The finish shows age but not damage or wear. It is thin only in the movement areas of the slide. The edges are sharp and hold most of the finish. Screw slots are undamaged. The sighting plane along the top of the receiver is slightly convex, grooved and matted. It has been well cared for.
The stock is near perfect. The checkering is sharp and undamaged. The pistol grip cap has three imbedded diamonds reflecting the checkering on the forearm. The Winchester Repeating Arms butplate is undamaged and the fit to the stock is 1st class. The grain is straight with contrasting color. It is a nice piece of wood and matches the forend. The length of pull is 14 inches. The finish in my estimate is semi-gloss
The 26” barrel is marked, “ MOD “. The front bead is silver. The bore is shiney. The inscription is sharp. the chamber is 3”
The barrel assembly and receiver serial numbers match.
This firearm functions perfectly.
This gun is older than I am and in better condition.
