US Springfield Krag-Jorgensen Model 1898 .30-40 Krag bolt action rifle. This rifle was manufactured between 1898 and 1903, with approximately 330,000 Model 1898 rifles made during that time period. The rifle was made with improvements over its predecessor, the Model 1896, including a modified bolt handle, improved sights and handguard. This particular rifle is in excellent condition, with some wear and small blemishes in areas, nothing unusual for a rifle of this vintage. The trigger guard is missing one of its screws, as shown. Some finish loss is present as well, and some patina and honest wear takes up most of the surface. The bolt action is glass smooth, and the bore is in great shape with some very minor wear, in addition to the magazine mechanism working properly. A stamp on the stock dates "1899", as shown. Overall the rifle is a simply beautiful example of a Model 1898 Krag-Jorgensen, and would be a wonderful addition to your US Military Arms collection.
