Description:
Knife bayonet for use on the 7.62 mm NATO caliber Armalite AR–10 selective-fire rifles produced for Sudan in 1958.  Some collectors refer to the bayonet as the M1959.  Serial number 223 (stamped on right side of ricasso) of estimated approximately 4,000 made, of which very few have survived at all, let alone in excellent-plus condition like this one.

Double-edged very sharp blade is like new, save the wear lines from drawing the knife from the scabbard.  The hollow hilt contains a removable tool set.  The grip scales and scabbard body are a deep red-brown color.  The scabbard has an integral stamped steel belt hanger.

The earliest of these bayonets were made in Germany, most likely by Carl Eickhorn, and then sold to Sudan by the U.S. arms import/export firm Interarmco, as is marked in script lettering on the ricasso, left side, along with "REG. PAT. GERMANY" and the firm's starburst logo.

It is expensive because it is rare in any condition, and extraordinarily rare in this condition; if you can buy another one in this condition or better for less, you should buy it.  A fair and reasonable offer will be considered.

Payment is by USPS Money Order or PayPal, and the price includes USPS Flat Rate Medium Box shipping.

Thanks for looking.
