EXTREMELY RARE antique Burgess 12 ga. shotgun. MFG. by Burgess Gun Co. Buffalo New York 1892-1899 when Winchester bought out and closed the plant. This is a Factory engraved two barrel set. One is 27" the other is 30". The dog head butt plate is still in great condition. The action is functional and smooth. This firearm is not to be fired with modern ammunition and will be sold as is. It is unknown what the total number of mfg. is, however it is estimated to be only a few thousand. The serial number on this one is 1728. This is a great piece of firearm history, Andrew Burgess is perhaps the most prolific firearms inventor the world has ever known. John Browning had a colossal 128 patents, it seems like a large body of work until one considers 894 Burgess patents. This gun is in excellent condition for being over 120 years old.
