Description:

This gun was built by Fabrique Nationale d'armes de guerre on a “New Anson” frame with characteristic hidden third fastener and chopper lump barrels but it lacks any action pins as the action is set on the trigger plate. Made in the 1930s, it is apparently a prototype of a model that was never offered commercially. It functions perfectly but an obvious shortcoming of the design is how the wood has pulled away from the trigger plate despite the fact that the stock is rebated into the frame at the top of the the receiver. This is due to there being no cross support to the head of the stock because of the presence of the blitz action. Regardless, the stock is sound and solid.
It has a no-function screw welded into the top side of the receiver, probably to fill a hole previously drilled for some unknown purpose resulting in the frame being used for this experiment.
It sports beautiful 12 gauge 27.5” chopper lump barrels with perfect (and I believe to be) unpolished bores bored modified (.020) and full (.030) and 2¾” chambers The metal surfaces have been re-blacked recently (the receiver was blued originally) and the forend wood is a replacement. The original forend wood was cut in two places (leaving a track of the saw across the bottom of the receiver as seen in an accompanying picture). It is my guess this probably was done by the factory when the testing on the gun was completed and the gun was disposed of.
Stock dimensions make it an excellent field gun. 14.5 inch pull, 1-5/8” drop at comb, 3” at heel.
Perfectly tight when open or closed, it weights 6 lb, 6½ oz.
It is a fun gun to shoot and is a unique product from a renown gun maker.
