Description:
This is a Model 1861 Navy Colt percussion Revolver. Six (6) shot. with an 7.5" barrel. Has a very good bore. Action and lockup is tight and indexes properly. All numbers match the serial number #12961, including the wedge, arbor and grips. Manufactured in 1863, at the height of the Civil War. Blued/ casehardened/silver finish, walnut grips. Fine overall with 75% original silver plating displaying dark aged patina, most of the silver loss on the edges of backstrap, 25% original case color concentrated primarily on the left side of the frame, 40% bright original high blue finish on the bottom half of barrel, mostly gray and brown patina on the balance, excellent cylinder scene, flattened safety pins, minor oxidation/pitting, and strong original varnish on the excellent grip, which only has mild lower edge wear and some scattered light scratches and marks. Marked "COLTS/PATENT" on left side of frame. Marked "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-". Also marked on cylinder is:"COLTS PATENT No. 2961.
