You won't find another one of these around... Built along the lines of a tip-down rook rifle, features an octagon to round - blued, 16 gauge, 30" smoothbore barrel with single bead sight. Has a back action lock on right side, underlever release that allows barrel to tilt downward for loading and ejecting. Checkered walnut forearm with horn forend tip. Retaining wedge attachment. ID plate on butt. Stock is an English straight grip wonderfully checkered walnut with smooth steel buttplate. "Mortimure Edinburgh" stamped on top of barrel noting the famous Scottish city.Features fine English type engraving on frame, hammer, barrel release, trigger guard, breech, and sideplate.
CONDITION: Barrel has a smooth blue-brown patina, showing more blue than patina. Frame colors have darkened to a soft patina. The wood is in excellent to near mint condition with no cracks or repairs but usual handling marks. Operates fine. Has a smooth, clean barrel bore.
