Has anybody noticed?  Where have all the Fox 20ga. Graded guns gone?  A few years back you could cruise the internet, or a good gun show and have a dozen choices of A Grade or better 20 ga. guns to choose from.  For the several years I have been searching for Fox small bores and they are gone!  The shooting public caught on to the delightful handling characteristics of the A.H. Fox 20, bought them all up, and they aren't selling them.  When you consider there were only 3400 graded 20ga. Fox guns ever made, IN ALL GRADES, you understand why they are so hard to find.  This fine Fox, sn200012, made in 1912, is one of 366 Philly CE 20ga. guns ever made, likely less than 320 left in the world!   This beautiful little Fox retains all original factory parts, factory original metal finishes, and nicely restored original factory wood.  If you look at the factory order card accompanying this ad, you will note that THIS GUN WAS SPECIAL ORDERED WITH HIGHLY FIGURED WOOD, as the card says, “select extra nice stock for this gun”, and they surely did just that.  Just look at the Circassian fully figured horizontal grain overlaid with full fiddleback figure running vertically on both sides of the stock.  THIS IS DE GRADE WOOD FROM THE FACTORY!  The gun was ordered with a shorter stock, and it has not been cut since it left the factory.  We added a short, ¾” original Silvers pad to bring the LOP to 14 1/8”.  The thinner pad looks a lot better than the standard 1” pad.  We can add a full size pad to gain an inch of LOP.  Fox enthusiast will note that this is the 12thgraded 20ga. gun that Fox ever made, as the 20ga. graded serial numbers started at sn200,000.  The early guns were the best guns in most people’s opinions.  This gun is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  We stripped the action and forend iron to its smallest part, ran all through the Ultrasonic cleaner, inspected all for integrity and function, properly lubricated all and reassembled.  The barrels are just as they left the factory, with factory bore diameter, chokes, mirror bores and lots of wall thickness.  Weighing just 5lbs. 11oz. and balanced dead on the hinge pin she is magic in hand.  We left the barrels, trigger guard, and receiver “as found” for those that love the natural wear to be present on their guns.  For those that want the gun to look new again, our gunsmiths will do what you want in the way of restoration without a wait in line.  This is a delightful bird gun waiting for a new home, factory choked for fine dog work and close flushing game.  You can have all sorts of fun keeping in shape breaking clay targets as well.  And of course, with its strong desirability and rarity, it will only go up in value as you enjoy its use.  Thanks for looking and we have priced this one to sell, so don’t hesitate or she will be gone!
