Here is a very nice Colt New Service which is not what it says it is. Good bluing, 5&1/2" barrel with excellent bore. Bluing pretty well gone from the backstrap. Caliber is listed on the barrel as .44 Special or .44 Russian (see picture). Actually the gun is chambered only for .44 Russian. There is a definite lip where the case of the ,44 Russian stops. It will not chamber a ,44 Special. The gun functions perfectly and looks sharp. 44 Russian cases and ammunition are both readily available. An alert reader has written that this revolver was re-barreled which is where the caliber markings are located and this explains the inconsistency. Price reduced accordingly.
