Description:
General Specs: Fox, Year 1914, 16 Gauge, 5lbs 13oz, Chokes SK/M, LOP 14", DAH 2 7/8", DAC 1 5/8"
Serial Number: 352204

Ansley H. Fox got it right when he designed the Fox 16ga. gun on the 20ga. receiver.  Fox 16-gauge guns are invariably light and well balanced, much more so than other American makers of the day.  Parker made a few of their 16’s on the “O” frame that was designed for their 20ga. gun, but they are far and few between and you pay a large premium when you find one.  Most will agree the Fox Sterlingworth 16ga. is the best value for a small gauge American double gun in today's marketplace. This Fox, sn352204 made in 1914, is quite a find, as it has OUTSTANDING FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION, with 28” number 3 weight barrels retaining factory correct bore diameter, 98% factory blue, clear sharp lettering, minimum barrel wall thickness of 33 thousandths, and excellent bores.  The action retains 99% FACTORY CASE COLOR, perfect screws, excellent mechanics, and crisp double triggers. The stock maintains the original length of pull to the factory buttplate and good stock dimensions.  The flat top checkering is superb and is factory, and the wood to metal fit is tight.  THIS IS A VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  We stripped the action and forend to the smallest part, cleaned all in the Ultrasonic cleaner, inspected all parts for function and integrity, lubricated all properly, and reassembled, so we know this gun is good to go and hence the excellent warranty.  A.H. Fox Gun Co. was making their best guns during the time period this gun was made.  You will notice this in the workmanship of the gun.  It is getting very difficult to find FACTORY ORIGINAL, UNTOUCHED PHILLY FOX GUNS WITH NICE CONDITION, and this is one of the better ones you will see offered for sale.  Weighing in at an incredible 5lbs. 13oz. and balanced perfectly between the hands, you can carry this gun all day long for your upland pursuits without the fatigue you would feel from other 16ga. guns built by any of the big 5 vintage American double gun makers of the day.  It ready for the upcoming season’s upland game and clay targets.  The chokes are Skeet and Modified, making for the ultimate upland bird gun and sporting clays gun.  Fox guns like this are a great investment opportunity.  Thanks for looking.
