Description:
Springfield 1868 Trapdoor Rifle manufactured in 1869. Has a fixed front sight/bayonet lug and a long range flip up elevation adjustable rear sight. The left side of the barrel and breech block are stamped with the serial number "457", the top of the breech block is stamped with "1869/eagle head/arrows/U.S.", the lock plate is marked with the eagle over "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" and is dated "1863", both barrel bands are marked "U", the top of the butt plate is stamped "U.S." and there is an "A" stamped on the front tang of the trigger guard. The stock has four cartouche, two oval & two square on the left flat. Just behind the tang the stock is stamped with "I 20". Comes with correct cleaning rod. Lock works perfectly(2 clicks). Bore is bright & shiny with good rifling. Action is not loose & works as it should. Barrel length is 32 1/2 inches. No cracks splits or repairs to the stock, it does have some small dings, gouges & scratches consistent with carefull use.
