Description:
General Specs: Remington, Year 1923, .22 Rem Special, 5lbs 9oz, LOP 13 1/4"
Serial Number: 617667

The Remington Model 12 was brought to market in 1909 to compete with the Winchester Model 1906 pump action rimfire.  It was produced in quantity until 1936 and has always been regarded as a fine little rifle that was hand fitted, with a takedown action that was reliable and accurate.  This Remington is the Model 12 CS chambered in .22 Remington Special, which is the same cartridge as the .22 Winchester Special.  The ammunition is readily available today through Winchester or CCI, and others from time to time.  Most of these guns have seen a lot of use, or have been restored poorly, and do not measure up to this fine gun.  This little rifle, serial number 617667 made in 1923, is 96 years old and amazingly it retains 99% factory blue on the action and barrel, 96% on the magazine tube, about 85% on the steel buttplate, and nearly all its original wood finish.  The 24” octagon barrel has a mirror shiny bore with strong rifling and the action is tight as new.  LET ME STRESS THAT THIS IS NOT A REFINISHED GUN.  IT IS WHOLLY FACTORY ORIGINAL!  There is a Marbles R7C “Special” rear tang peep on the gun that appears to be original but we cannot be certain of this.  This is a great example of a fine Remington rifle from the early 1900’s and great investment gun that you can enjoy plinking cans, targets, and the small game you enjoy chasing. Thanks for looking!
