Description:
Serial #10744, .25-35, 27 3/8" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a simply stunning little rifle that retains nearly all of an expertly applied, rust blue finish with crisp floral scroll engraving on the frame and lever. The barrel with quarter rib and three-leaf rear sight was added later, but was exquisitely engraved with the Webley & Scott London address on the top: “WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD. 78 SHATESBURY AV. LONDON". Despite the crisp markings, the barrel is devoid of British proofs, and is simply marked with the last two digits of the serial number underneath the forend. That, coupled with the chambering, indicates that the rebarreling was done in North America (the rifle was probably chambered in .300 Rook originally). The checkered English walnut forend with ebony cap, and pistol-grip buttstock which checkered wood butt, are in excellent condition with only very minor handling marks and small surface blemishes. This is a simply beautiful little Webley single shot rifle, in superb condition as reconditioned, chambered for a handy little cartridge, and would make a great addition to any collection.
