Description:
A rare opportunity to purchase a collector grade government issue World War 1 Colt 1911. Circa 1917 with US Property marks. The pistol is 90-95 % overall condition. With 99 % of factory “dull bluing” present. There is some freckling percent on the front right area of the slide, right front area of the receiver and from and back grip area. The serial number (1588270) is placing the pistol manufacturing at 1917 with all mark and parts consistent with that date. The excellent dull blue finish is consistent with 1917 date. type 1 receiver. The slide has the provisional H without serifs stamp at the hammer recess area. The slide MODEL lettering is serif and left side has two tear lettering with the 1913 Patent date. The Colt logo is type 3 2nd variation. The pistol exhibits the Gilbert H. Stewart final inspection mark. The slide has the G (Government production mark) as well as the U type lanyard loop. Hammer type 3/1 hammer, the diamond walnut grips 20 small diamond horizontal and 16 vertical count and feels sharp. Type 1 slide stop, type 3 magazine catch, Type 1 safety lock, Barrel has P H (Frank Hosmer) provisional inspector mark. A Colt 1911 in exceptional condition. A wonderful start or addition to a mature WW1 or Colt collection. This pistol is from my private collection, I'm a private seller places make sure you FFL will accept firearms from private seller.
