Description:
This a rare opportunity to own a rifle made by a one of 20th Century’s giants in small arms development and knowledge: Lt. Col. William S. Brophy. Col. Brophy was a well-known in the firearms field for his unquestioned expertise and 5 classic books on guns (The Springfield 1903 Rifle; Marlin Firearms; Krag Rifles; L.C. Smith Shotguns; and Arsenal of Freedom). Col. Brophy was instrumental in the creation of the Marlin Collectors Association, and was editor of The Marlin Collector, and Senior Technical Manager and Historian of The Marlin Firearms Company. Colonel Brophy left behind an amazing record of accomplishment as a shooter, an Army officer who served in WW2, Korea and Vietnam. Col. Brophy passed away in 1991 and is buried at Arlington. This rilfe is built on a Danzig Arsenal Gewher 98 dated 1916. Overall rifle length of 42.5, Chambered in .257 Roberts, barrel length. 22 inches with a custom configured barrel to be accurate at a carbine length and signed (BROPHY) and a Dahl ramp front sight. Bore rates as excellent. The Danzig receiver and barrel have 99.9 % of Brophy bluing. A Paul Jeager trigger is present. The length of pull is 14 inches. Stock was made by Bishop in walnut with a raised cheek piece with a Bishop buttplate, caped pistol grip, and a caped fore-stock. There are Paul Jaeger swing swivels present with a Boyt 1 inch leather sling. The stock and finish are in excellent condition with minor ware marks. A Weaver KV scope with a Weaver Detachable side mounts is on the rifle. Both scope and mount are era correct. The Rifle is as found. This is one of the best shooting rifles this writer has ever shot with1 inch groups at 50 and 100 yards. I holds 5 rounds but it seems to feed better with four. The length of pull is bit long for me but surprisingly I was able to pull it into my shoulder and had no problem. I put the weight at about 10 pounds which lend to it’s accurately. Designed by one of the greats. Thank you ed This rifle is from my private collection, I'm a private seller places make sure you FFL will accept firearms from private seller. If not the rifle can sent through the FFL I work with for 25. 00 fee. Ed P.S. If you have a question that is relevant to acquiring this weapon, please contact me.
