Description:

Circa 1900 Single Shot GERMAN “PARLOR” Pistol

6mm Rimfire for Use Indoors!

Here we present a German single shot “Parlor” pistol in 6mm rimfire, made circa 1900. Parlor pistols came into fashion in the mid-19th century, where they typically featured heavy barrels and were chambered in a small caliber. They were used for target shooting in homes with a dedicated parlor or gallery for this purpose. Other guns of this type include “Gallery Guns”, “Flobert Guns”, and “Saloon Guns”, all designed for recreational indoor target shooting. These guns were developed in 1845, when French inventor Louis-Nicolas Flobert created the first rimfire metallic cartridge by modifying a percussion cap to hold a small lead bullet. These games were popular in saloon, at carnivals, and as mentioned above, in people’s homes during this period.

The overall condition is very good. The nickel finish is about 75%. The markings are clear. The hardwood grips show average wear and remain intact. The bore is smooth and bright. The action is excellent. Here is a great example of a German Parlor Pistol from around the turn of the 20th Century!
