Description:

WWII GERMAN POLICE Steyr-Hahn Model 1912 Pistol

With Eagle/L Acceptance Mark

Here we present a Steyr-Hahn Model 1912 Pistol. This semi-automatic pistol was developed in 1911 by the Austrian firm Steyr Mannlicher. It was developed for the Austro-Hungarian Army service at a time when the revolver was still globally entrenched as the primary military sidearm. Designs from the United States and Italy would soon change the focus to semi-automatic types and many gun concerns followed. Though the Model 1912 saw its birth in 1911, it wasn’t introduced until 1914 and this with special Austro-Hungarian units before wider adaptation was witnessed. At the outbreak of World War 1, the 1912 was already in quantitative circulation and several foreign buyers emerged, including the German Empire. The M1912 was able to endure the adverse conditions of trench warfare during World War I and was still in use as late as World War II.

This pistol was one such that was used straight through the Second World War in the hands of the Third Reich’s Police. The slide is marked "08" with an "eagle/L" Nazi police acceptance mark on right side of frame.

The overall condition is very good plus. This pistol has been tastefully refinished and retains 90% or better blue finish. Care was taken to preserve the markings. The numbers match. The wooden grips are in nice shape. The bore is sharp and bright. The action is excellent, strong and crisp. Here is a service pistol whose service life spanned both World Wars!
