Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: This is a really neat all-original example of a .69 caliber Austrian smoothbore "short or two-band length" musket imported into the United States for use in the American Civil War. While there is no way to know for sure whether this particular musket served on the Union or Confederate side, the short pattern musket type is more associated with the Confederates that regular Union forces by Civil War historians today. This musket is in great shape overall, with a functioning lock and trigger, as well as a complete and intact original stock and hardware. It appears to have not been altered or changed in any way since it arrived into this country. As you can see in the pictures, many of the small parts have matching numbers stamped on them. These appear to be assembly numbers. All of the metal parts of this Austrian musket show a nice silver/gray patina that is both attractive and consistent. The original stock is nice ansd solid with no cracks, repairs, or major damage. At some point over the last 156 plus years a couple of people scratched their initials into the stock with a deeply scratched "MJP" on the left side of the butt, and a very light "TG" scratched into the right side. The buttplate, sling mounts, and all of the rest of the hardware on the stock is still intact and in good condition. The original ramrod is still with the musket and is held securely under the barrel. This short pattern musket originally had a matching bayonet that has been lost along the way. This American Civil War musket would make a great addition to any antique military weapons collection, or a great decorator to be hung over the fireplace or displayed on a shelf in your den/library/man-cave. This antique can be shipped directly to your home. SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Austria Model: Short Musket Caliber Info: .69 Caliber Cap and Ball Manufacture Date: Civil War Period |
