Description:
Heym 88B Safari grade double rifle chambered for .458 Winchester Magnum. Not many double rifles are chambered for belted magnums like the .458 thus making this rifle very desirable. With ballistics similar to a .470 nitro express the .458 Win Mag is ideal for dangerous game hunting with great penetrating and knock down power, yet in a shorter case making for an easier to carry somewhat lighter rifle at 9 lbs. 5 oz. compared to well over 10 lbs. for most doubles.
This rifle is a Safari grade giving it a select/finer grained walnut stock and forearm, a long tang trigger guard, more detailed fitting and shaping and hand engraved scroll.
This gun has 25 ½” barrels with a 1/3 rib fitted with one standing and three folding sights of 50, 100 & 150 yards..front sight with silver insert. The frame has a non-automatic safety, cocking indicators, double triggers (articulated front), and ejectors that can be “switched off” to make them extractors. The locking system is accomplished by two underlug locks and a Greener crossbolt for good measure.
The beautiful stock has a 14 7/8” LOP over a 1” Kick-Eez pad and a spacer (front trigger to end of wood is 13 ¾”). There is a shadow line cheek piece for the right hand shooter. Splinter forearm with a Deeley latch and the ejector/extractor switch is located in the bottom.
Mechanically perfect. Metal finishes are 99% with a deduction only for slight discoloration on the front swivel! The wood is 98% with a very few light “dings” and a small scratch in the oiled finish.
