Post Civil War Whitney assembled Springfield Model 1863 Type I Musket. Springfield Model 1863. Musket was produced after the Civil War by Whitney using surplus Springfield parts. Lock plate and barrel dated 1863. Sharp cartouche on the right side. Metal has a gray patina. Stock shows handling wear. Bore is good with sharp rifling. Overall a good looking musket!
