The half plating is rare with only 1500 or so guns being done in the first 340,000. The sights include a Marble's 34W front sight and a Marble's Sporting adjustable buckhorn rear sight. The man that owned this gun obviously preferred Marble sights. The overall metal is a nice deep blue color with some spots that will probably come off with Kroil. The wood is 100% original finish and its overall condition is very good. It does have a 1" long crack leading off of the bottom tang toward the butt and a small 1/2" long crack beginning off of the back top tang on the right side. There is a very small chip at the forearm screw on each side. The barrel has a good clean bore with no pits with very clear and good riflings. The lettering and proof marks are sharp and clear and are the 10th barrel marking style (90-8) "Made in U.S.A." The action is smooth and responsive. Some of the plating is flaking off of the bottom tang, but that can be expected for a rifle made in September of 1919, almost 100 years ago. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
