A.H. Fox Sterlingworth 12Gauge two barrel set. Serial # 131961 date of mfg. 1931. 26” barrels are choked, Right Mod.and Left I. Mod. The 28” barrels are choked Right IC. And Left Full. Both sets of barrels have their own separate fore end.This was a common practice by Savage that required much less work than trying to fit one fore end for both sets of barrels. It appears that the 26” barrels were added later in the production years. It is of the new style fore end. It is marked with the numeral (. 2) on the fore end iron after the matching Serial numbers indicating the second set of barrels. The 28” barrels has the first generation style fore end.Chambers are 2 ¾” for the 26” barrels and 2 5/8” for the 28” barrels. Additional data: LOP- 14 1/4" DAC- 1 1/2" DAH: 2 7/16". Weight: 28" Barrels- 7 lbs. 1.2 oz. 26" Barrels- 7 lbs. .02 oz. It has been said that the Fox Sterlingworth was / is the best value American double gun ever made!
