Description:

RARE "Hei=Mo" Heinrich Moritz SemiAutomatic Pistol

Made Circa the 1920s in Weimar Germany

Here we present a Heinrich Moritz “Hei=Mo” Semi-Automatic Pistol, made circa the 1920s in Zella-Mehlis, Germany. This is a very rare example with no other found for sale anywhere else worldwide. This early semi-automatic pistol was made for self-defense in the Weimar Period of Germany, just after World War I ended in 1918 and when Hitler ascended to the Chancellorship in 1933. Not much is written on this pistol, but it bears many similarities to both the early Italian Berettas and the Spanish Ruby. The maker, for which this pistol is named, was Heinrich Moritz out of Zella-Mehlis, Germany. He may be the same Meister gunmaker of record from 1886 in Zella St. Blasii. Whether related or not, our Heinrich Moritz was known for his sporting weapons, Zimmerstutzen barrels and gunstocks. The Hei=Mo may have been a trial venture for him that did not produce much as the company seems to have ceased in 1936.

This pistol features an open topped design with an exposed barrel. There is a safety lever on the left side of the frame. The right side of the slide is marked “KAL. 7.65” and the left side is marked “HEI=MO GES GESCH”. The right side of the slide and the frame are marked “CROWN/N”.

The overall condition is fine. The original blue finish is 60% intact. The markings are clear and legible. The bore is bright. The hardwood grips are in great shape. The action on this pistol is excellent. Here is your chance to own an exceedingly rare example of a Weimar Hei=Mo Pistol!
