A little known American Over and Under was produced in Rhode Island from 1949 to 1953. Similar in appearance to the well known Marlin Model 90, the Morrone O/U is rarely seen. There were approximately 500 made in total. 450 in 12ga. and 50 in 20ga. This 12 bore is in exc condition with just some small amount of freckling on frame. It’s totally original and shows little evidence of use. The bores and mechanics are excellent. The barrels are 28 inches long and bored light modified (.015) and full (.030). They are separated like the later Marlin M90’s and today’s Krieghoff’s. It features a harder to find straight grip stock with an LOP of 13 3/4 inches to a rear position mechanical single trigger. The safety is non automatic. The wood is attractive and is hand checkered. In the post World War II years, the popularity of Over and Under shotguns started to increase. You had the Browning Superposed, the Marlin Model 90 and this little known Morrone. Prior to the war you had the Savage Models 420&430, which were not produced after the war. If you’re into shotgun history and something different, but entirely usable, this could be the gun for you. I’ve included an advertisement from the early 50’s for the Morrone shotgun. A Marlin Model 90 was about 1/2 that price. My price includes shipping and insurance. SOLD |
