Description:
Winchester Model 1886 Sporting Rifle Lever Action .50 EXP. (.50/110). The serial number of this example is 508XX placing date of manufacture in 1891. Overall condition is very good and untouched. The Barrel and Magazine tube have retained 50% original factory rust blue finish toned to a very nice even plum/blue patina. The rear sight is a three leaf "Express Sight" correct and common with the .50 express. The bore is very good with strong rifling and shine from muzzle to breech. Light, minor pitting is present with two very light partial rings one inch from muzzle probably from a cleaning patch being left in the muzzle absorbing some moisture? I did test fire this rifle with some factory re-loads and found its accuracy unaffected. The Bore will rate an 8 on a 1 to 10 scale. This rifle is an early "Case Colored" receiver with traces of silver remaining. The action is tight, smooth and mechanically perfect. Wood to metal fit is very good with no damage, breaks, cracks or repairs. Nice honest untouched .50 Express priced right.
