The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most brilliant designs.  Produced in plain-jane field grades to the most elaborately engraved and finely stocked shotguns ever seen, production of the Browning Superposed was done in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when traditional production stopped.   The Pointer Grade was introduced in 1960, replacing the Grade III of the 1950’s.  The engraving pattern was nearly full coverage fine scroll and game scene vignettes, including the long tang trigger guard.  The wood was fine English walnut with notable figure.  The Pointer Grade was made in very small numbers and is a highly sought after Superposed, especially in the 20ga. guns.  This fine Pointer Grade, sn18758 shipped in 1960, is exceptional in many ways.  Documented by a detailed Browning factory letter that accompanies the sale, this gun was ordered as a two-barrel set with the factory hard case.  The gun REMAINS IN UNTOUCHED FACTORY MINT CONDITION, WITH NO MARKS OR WEAR EVIDENT ANYWHERE ON THE GUN.  The case is in superb condition as well.  The primary set of barrels are the highly desirable 28” M/F field barrels and the second set is the hunting style 26.5” set with Skeet 1 and Skeet 2 chokes (.006/.010 constrictions), making for the perfect quail, woodcock, grouse gun for close game and tight cover.  The two-barrel set will offer great versatility in the field or at your favorite gun club breaking clay targets.  The wood on this gun has exceptional figure for a Pointer grade and has not been altered in any way since 1960.  THE RARITY OF THIS SET MAKES FOR A SUPER INVESTMENT GRADE FIREARM, WITH ONLY 200 OR SO POINTER GRADES MADE IN 20GA. AND ONLY 117 IN THE LIGHTNING HUNTING STYLE CONFIGURATION.  Additionally, this gun has the most desired 28” barrels and mint condition throughout.  Weighing just 6 1/4lbs. with the 28” barrels and 6lbs. with the 26.5” barrels, this is a dynamic handling shotgun that begs to be taken afield.  This gun has been shot, so there should be no hesitation to enjoy this fine Browning for a day afield or at the clays course.  Fully documented and priced to sell, don’t miss out on this opportunity to improve your collection of fine Browning Superposed high-grades.  Their value is just starting to escalate again and she won’t last long!  Thanks for looking.
