WWII WW2 JAPANESE ARISAKA NAGOYA ARSENAL TYPE 99 7.7MM SHORT RIFLE WITH HISTORY. Serial number "9966X" with mismatched bolt. Mum ground off but model number crisp. Original finish 85% just fading at edges. Chief inspector's mark behind lower tang(Nagoya) stamped in wood that has never been cleaned. Short rifle 25 1/2" barrel with plain adjustable sight. Bore excellent with crisp rifling. Correct type plum shaped bolt handle although not matching. Tight lock up and functions perfectly. Brought back by a U.S. Navy MD(Lt Cmdr) who served on the USS Bushnell(submarine tender) and was in the War from 1942-45). Taken from Marshall islands campaign. Have brief bio as well as information from his grand daughter who we received from. Much more info on him to be found as plenty more to be had on Ancestry.
