Description:
Up for your consideration is a beautiful Colt Official Police with 5in bbl chambered in .38 spl. This Colt was manufactured in 1937 and has survived the many years since very well. Original blue is 98% with only some slight muzzle wear, slight fade on backstrap, and some minor pitting on the trigger guard, again very minor. The chambers and bore are in excellent condition with strong crisp rifling. The original walnut grips are in excellent condition with sharp and shiny Colt medallions and sharp checkering, there is one light spot in the checkering on the left grip shown in the picture but does not detract at all from the overall look of this pistol. This gun does come with the original box! The box isn't in the best of shape with a lot of wear and tear and at some point was duct taped together, but the original bore brush is also included in the box. The most interesting part of the gun is the original civilian purchase receipt from 1948 describing the man purchasing the gun down the clothing he was wearing! The butt is marked C.P.D denoting this indeed was a service pistol at some point for Cincinnati and most likely saw some carrying but very little use by its first and second owner.
