Description: General Specs: Colt, Year 1937, .22 standard vel Serial Number: 118824 The “Colt Automatic Pistol, Caliber .22, Target Model” was the original name of the pistol that would become known as the “Woodsman” in 1927. Colt began production of this fine semi-auto pistol in 1915 and built numerous variations until they ceased production in 1977. There has always been a strong collecting fraternity surrounding the Colt Woodsman, and the values for early, high-condition Colt Automatic Pistol has continued to climb without any end in sight. This fine Colt, sn118824 built in 1937, is a prime example of a PRE-WAR Colt retaining over 99.5% factory condition with no wear at the muzzle, no wear to front or back strap, and bold vivid blue. A tiny mark on the base of the left hand grip the only flaw. The balance of the pistol is near 100% with no wear on the front or rear grip straps, trigger guard, magazine, or trigger and having near perfect original grips, excellent shiny bore with strong rifling, superb checkering and screw, and the original two-tone magazine. It is hard to find these early guns totally intact, as most have replaced grips, touched up blue, pitting, lots of wear, and mis-matched magazines. Many of them have poor bores due to the early ammunition having corrosive powders. These pistols were designed for standard velocity .22LR cartridges, which are still available today. What a great investment quality Colt in pristine condition. You could not find a better example of a pre-war Woodsman! The Colt collectors have been in a frenzy buying the best Colt handguns available, as these hand-finished, finely machined Colt pistols will never be produced again. They are a hoot to shoot as well!
