Description:
For sale is a fully restored Ithaca Gun Co. 12 ga. Crass, Grade 2, built in 1893, S/n 25185. It was restocked to modern dimensions, 1 3/8 x 2 3/8 x 14 ¼ over the original buttplate, in a lovely piece of English walnut by Keith Kearcher, who also cleaned and re-browned the 2 iron Crolle Damascus barrels and re-laid the short rib on the underside and tig welded the hook to bring the action back on face.  Later, the gun was sent to Gunter Pfrommer for re-case of the receiver and reblue of the trigger guard and gold plating of the triggers.  The original engraving is truly exceptional.  Gunter also honed the bores to smooth out minor pitting, cleaned up and retimed the action screws, opened the chokes and recut the sears to 5-6lbs each .  As it sits, the barrels are uncut at 28 inches, bores measure .740R, .743L as honed. Chambers are original 2 3/4".  Chokes are .015R and .024 L.  Barrel wall thickness is a full .116 at the end of the forcing cone, .070 at 9 inches from the breech, and .045 at the thinnest point 20 inches from the breech. These are stout barrels that Pfrommer had no reservations about honing. The gun weighs 8 lbs 4 oz.    Available with a CSMC leather and gold fabric hard case for $200 extra. No FFL required because the gun is an antique. Buyer pays shipping and insurance.  . E-mail with any questions.
