Description:
A really nice transitional model incorporating some of the best of the older features (brass counter and rotor) with handy tang safety not the less convenient lever safety. Absoutely free of the normal crack at the upper tang. Only normal handling marks reflecting light careful use. Most sought after in .308 is the lightweight (F) model. Factory drilled and tapped for scope and has Weaver 2 piece bases correctly mounted in factory holes. In 1960 Savage relocated from their former home in Chicopee Falls Mass to Westfield Mass. The Barrel on this gun is marked Chicopee but it incorporates the later tang safety which came into use in 1960 so it may have been produced in either location (?) Correc steel corregated butt plate and both stock and forend have very sharp original hand checkering and finish. Rear sling swivel stud missing easily replaced.
