This bayonet was produced by the Koishikawa Arsenal in Tokyo from 1870 to 1935 for the Arisaka Model 30 and 38 rifles, we also found this to fit the type 99. The blade has been polished and sharpened with some scattered pitting. The ricasso is marked with the Koishikawa arsenal symbol. The steel cross guard has the hooked quillon found on the type 30 bayonet. The wood grip scales are intact and have been worn smooth showing impact marks with Japanese characters still visible. The steel pommel is serial number marked “118869" and functions with sound lock up when attached to a rifle. The metal scabbard has several dents, scattered pitting and very thinned original bluing left. Overall this is a well used but still great example of the type 30 bayonet. Please see the photographs for further information on condition. SOLD Manufacturer: Japanese Model: Bayonet |
