Description:
Here's a nice shooter grade Winchester Pre War 70 in the very scarce 22 Hornet caliber. Early S/N 15*** with matching # bolt Mfg. 1938. Barrel is 24" with good bore.
Overall cosmetic condition is near 95%. Mechanics are smooth and rifle functions well. There are sevaral non factory holes in the receiver. The rear receiver bridge has been drilled on top. Additionally, there are 3 nicely repaired holes in side of receiver from a previously installed side scope mount which were popular during that time period. They are somewhat difficult to see and the fairly experienced collector that I bought the rifle from was completely unaware of them. There has been absolutely no wood removal or repair to wood underneath removed side mount. I have personally verified that caliber remains 22 Hornet and has not been reamed to a "K" hornet. Rifle shoots well and bolt throw is very smooth.
Offered at half price with consideration to discrepancies. Would make a great nostalgic shooter in a fun caliber.
