Marked: Mallot & Mallet Mere St. Birmingham The stock is English walnut in very good condition. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches. The lock is nicely engraved. The patent breech and wedge cross lock makes it easy to dismount and clean. The barrel is straight with no heavy dents and the bore is smooth with very little rust pitting. I have shot this shotgun and have broken many clay targets. The trigger guard is also nicely engraved with a tipical English pineapple motif on the front tang. The wide shotgun steel buttplate spreads out the recoil. I have shot 90grs. of 2F black with 1 1/8 oz of shot. Recoil is mild. This original fowler would make a great upland game gun!
