Description:
Darling & Harris Otsego Michigan Side Hammer Mule Ear O/U Rifle & Shotgun Combo. Features 30” barrels with .38 caliber rifle over 16-gauge shotgun, both barrels are good + showing mild pitting towards muzzles. Top of rifle barrel stamped, “W.K. DARLING. C.H. HARRIS OTSEGO MICH”. Single trigger with double side hammers functioning properly. Lock marked, W.K. DARLING/ C.H. HARRIS. Brass furniture including triggerguard with finger spur, crescent buttplate & cap box. Equipped with rear tang sight along with standard sights mounted on top barrel. Ramrod present mounted on left side of barrels secured with three pipes. William K. Darling & C.H. Harris were gunmakers in Allegan County (Otsego) Michigan between 1850’s-1860’s. Very good condition with barrels showing a smooth gray patina with some oxidation & pitting at breaches. Stock is good showing scattered use marks with a small crack on left side opposite lock.
