Payment Types Accepted: checks, cashiers/bank check, money order Description: VERY EARLY NEW SERVICE .44-40 WITH DESIRABLE 7 ½” BARREL, #5XXX, MADE 1900. This is an interesting revolver that came out of Arizona. It was obviously sent back to Colt for a replacement barrel as there is the small “&” repair stamp inside the crane by the serial number. The barrel has the last patent date of 1926 and is marked on the left side “NEW SERVICE 44-40.” It is also fitted with smooth walnut grips that may be Colt fitted as they are scratched with the serial number on the inside of each grip. Lanyard ring intact, front sight has not been filed, retains the early cylinder release latch with the early New Service and rampant colt stamping on the left side of the frame. Most of the blue wear is on the grip straps, trigger guard bow, top strap and edges. This one was not refinished when it was returned to Colt for the new barrel. Bore is perfect and the action is crisp with lock up extremely tight- no end shake or cylinder movement at all. This one should make for a great Colt .44-40 shooter!
