Description:
This 1870 to 1880's holster, showing the unique holster car-touche of Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. The company initials form an intertwined logo on the pouch of the holster. Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. was a MAJOR dealer in Chicago in the 19th century, and many famous guns went to their holsters. This double loop tooled brown leather holster fits a Colt 1873 revolver with a 4 3/4 inch barrel. You can see the company mentioned on pages 132 &136 of PACKING IRON. The holster is in overall good condition showing the Hibbard, Bartlett and Spencer insignia and the “stock” number "94" on the top loop and next to that "4 3/4" indicating it is for a Colt 1873 4 3/4 inch barrel, but as you can see it was made to fit a 5 1/2 inch barrel as well. All the main seam stitches intact with no rips or tears. The leather is fully alive and could be used, although I feel it should be preserved and displayed. It would be perfect to display with you antique Colt. My Colt Frontier Six Shooter is not included.
