This is another Colt that is truly outstanding in many regards. This gun features an absolutely stunning and absolutely guaranteed original Tiffany "Civil War Battle Scene" Grip. This grip itself is stunning and shows great clear detail. It is very tough to find a Original Tiffany grip Colt Conversion revolver as most originals are percussion examples. This gun was designated to be factory engraved as the dot below the serial number. The gun was Factory engraved by Louis D. Nimschke. The quality of the engraving is elaborate and exceptional. Very rarely is the "Colts Patent" engraved over on the left side of the frame on factory engraved revolvers. The silver finish has a beautiful untouched and uncleaned appearence and is mostly all retained. Mechanical function is excellent in every regard. The ejector rod head is a period replacement. This revolver is illustrated on page 295 of "THE COLT ENGRAVING BOOK, VOLUME ONE" by R.L. Wilson and pictured and described in detail on pages 256-257 of "A STUDY OF COLT CONVERSIONS" by R. Bruce McDowell. Bruce McDowell describes the revolver as the most often photographed and most valuable Tiffany gripped Colt Model 1861 factory-engraved revolver. This is absolutely a great rarity in Colt collecting and it is almost impossible to find a Original and completely documentable Tiffany Grip Revolver, as the market is flooded by fakes and "Tiffany Style" grips. This is not one of those, this is a truly authentic pair. This is truly an impeccable and fully documented Colt! Serious offers considered by serious parties!
