McCririck was a small, high quality gunmaker located in Ayr, Scotland known for his handsome well made doubles. It was professionally refurbished in the UK in 2012 at which time the chambers were reproofed in London for 2-3/4” shotshells. *** The original 30” nitro steel ejector barrels are topped by a concave game style rib. The rib is inscribed "J. McCririck & Sons Ayr". Re-proofed in London for 2-3/4” cartridges in 2012. Bluing is in very good condition. Bores are shiny. The right barrel is bored 0.732 with a constriction of 0.011 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.025. The left barrel is also bored 0.732 and has a constriction of 0.021 for Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.022. *** The straight hand stock and splinter forearm are crafted from well figured English walnut, have a beautifully hand rubbed oil finish with well defined drop points and are nicely checkered. There are 2 small inlet repairs to the forend wood at the knuckle and 2 repaired settling cracks behind the lock plates. Stock dimensions are 14-7/8” over a 7/8” leather covered pad by 1-3/8” by 2”. Slightly cast off for the right hand shot. *** The gun is on face and in excellent mechanical condition.
